Mark Reed (born 1986) is the current bullpen catcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Reed was originally drafted in the third round (96th Overall) in the 2004 draft by the Chicago Cubs out of Bonita High School.[1]

Scouting report on Reed in the draft, "EVENLY PROPORTIONED, ATHLETIC FRAME. ROUNDED SHOULDERS, GOOD UPPER BODY STRENGTH. STRONG DEFINED ARMS & FOREARMS . TRIM WAIST. STRONG CONDITIONED LEGS. SIMILAR TO MIKE LIEBERTHAL. OPEN STANCE. AGGRESSIVE APPROACH, PURE HITTER. VERY QUICK BAT, CONSISTENT HARD CONTACT TO ALL FIELDS. LEVEL, LINE DRIVE STROKE W/ GOOD LEVERAGE & EXTENTION GAP PWR. RECEIVES WELL, FAIR HANDS COMPETITIVE INSTINCTS, BASEBALL SMARTS. LEADERSHIP QUALITIES. OLDER BROTHER, JEREMY, IN WHITE SOX ORG. "[2] [3]

After the 2011 season, Reed decided to test the minor league free agent market and joined the Diamondbacks A-Ball affiliate. A hand injury and crowded depth chart at the catcher position slowed things to a crawl once again. Then, halfway through last season, a different opportunity arose. Jeff Motuzas, the Diamondbacks’ longtime bullpen catcher, hurt his elbow and developed knee problems
