[1]Marylaine Louise Lagran Viernes (born September 29, 1986) is a Filipina events host, model, writer and event blogger. She is also a Carlos Palanca Awardee, having taken first prize in the "Kabataan Sanaysay" category of the National Literary Competition, the Carlos Palanca Memoral Awards for Literature, when she was 17 years old. Her winning piece was entitled "Iboto Ako, Para Pangulo."

Viernes received her tertiary education from De La Salle University Manila, where she was a full academic scholar. She graduated in 2006 with Honorable Mention for the degree Bachelor of Science in Education Major in English Linguistics.

Viernes is known as an events host, having worked for big brands in the Philippines, such as Philips, Philips AVENT, Unilab, Mattel, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Monster High, SM Supermalls, The Baby Company, Mothercare and GNC Live Well. Friends and family know her as May, but professionally she has been called Mary since she worked with celebrity chef Nino Laus who started calling her Mary when they worked together on several commercial projects and lifestyle shows for the Solar Channel. She is also a columnist for The Manila Times.[2]

Viernes has her own channel on YouTube, Marythehost,[3] an active personal blog.[4] As a Carlos Palanca Awardee and passionate writer, she hopes to one day be known as an epic fiction writer. Currently she works as manager for a company while carrying on with her hosting career.
