Mathieu Dossevi (born 12 February 1988) is a French-born Togolese footballer who plays for Belgian Pro League side Standard Liège as a Winger.

Career

Valenciennes

Dossevi joined Valenciennes from Le Mans in the summer of 2010 and has played 110 times for them scoring eleven goals for Ligue 1. On 18 March 2014, Dossevi has stated that he will leave Valenciennes at the end of the season. However, the forward is concerned about the Ligue 1 side as they fight for survival. The midfielder has been vital for the French club and has played most of their games this season though he believes is time to move on.“I will leave this summer but I do not know where. I’m opened to any club. But today I am concerned about Valenciennes,” Dossevi told Francefootball. [1]

At the end of the 2013-14 season Swansea interim manager Garry Monk expects to take the job on a full-time basis and is preparing to reshape the squad and has identified experienced forward Dossevi as a useful addition to the club.[2] Eventually, besides many offers Dossevi signed for the Greek champions Olympiakos, for an undisclosed fee.[3]

Olympiacos

Last summer’s Olympiakos transfers were numerous and well researched, and Dossevi's was one of them. Dossevi showed a lot of promise during last summer’s tournament in the USA, but was not among the priorities of Michel,as the former Olympiakos manager was reluctant to play him regularly. New manager Vítor Pereira has used him twice in a row in the starting line-up and Dossevi proved his quality by scoring both against Skoda Xanthi and Panetolikos in the Greek Super League.[4]

Olympiakos midfielder Matthieu Dossevi has told RMC he does not understand why the Greek Super League has been suspended after violence at last weekend's Athens derby against Panathinaikos. He believes that if they want to change things they only have to suspend the team in question, thus Panathinaikos and not the whole league. Dossevi, played in the match, which saw Panathinaikos fans invading the pitch and delaying the start of the second half. A number of missiles were hurled at the visiting Olympiakos players as they lost 2-1. [5] Olympiacos winger Mathieu Dossevi believes that titles always give you motive to play as well as you can."We have big targets and we are dreaming of reaching the Cup final and winning it", the 27-year-old said. [6]

Standard Liège

On 1 September 2015, he signed a year contract with Standard Liège on loan from Olympiakos. [7] According to Belgian reports, Standard Liège are trying to reach an agreement with Olympiakos for Mathieu Dossevi. The French winger moved to the Belgian club on loan last summer and has proved his worth with his impressive displays, as he had 4 goals and 8 assists in 18 games in the first six months of his loan, in all competitions. They want to permanently sign the 27-year-old and are trying to clinch a deal with an amount under €2 million. [8]

Standard Liège

Standard Liège used a transfer clause existed at his contract and signed Togolese winger Dossevi for €1.3 million, who was on loan from Olympiakos, until the summer of 2020.The 28-year-old international stated that he is happy about this deal and has faith in his ability. [9]
