Biography

Mehmed Selaheddin spent most of his life in enforced confinement in Çırağan Palace, Ortaköy in İstanbul. The restrictions imposed on the former Sultan extended to his entire family, and were not lifted until his death in 1904. During this time Prince (Şehzade) Mehmed Selaheddin Efendi wrote a diary which give an account of the daily life of the imprisoned members of Sultan Murad V's immediate family and their retinue.
