Michael Barrett (cinematographer)

Michael Bradley Barrett (born May 28, 1970) is an American cinematographer. He is best known for his work on Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Ted.

Life and career

Barrett was born in Riverside, California. In 1992, he met the cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa and talked to him about Figueroa's work for the 1947 film La perla.[1] In the same year he started to study art history at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he took film classes.[1] Afterwards he moved to New York City and studied film at the Columbia University. He shot first music videos and short films. For his thesis he choose Allen Daviau as his advisor.[1] Daviau also recommended him for bigger projects.

Starting in 2001 Barrett worked for the TV series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In 2002 he received an ASC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in the category Movie of the Week or Pilot (Network) for his work on the CSI pilot Cross Jurisdictions.[2]
