Midtown South is a neighborhood in New York city. Its boundaries are 29th Street to 45th Street, and 9th Avenue to Lexington Avenue.[1]

Midtown Manhattan bustles with over 700,000 employees. Visitors from all over the world are mixing with the residential and working people in our perpetually growing area of Manhattan.

Midtown South Community Council (MSCC) was established in 1983.[2] The Midtown South Community Council was formed to combat the many problems facing residents in a commercialized area. The quality-of-life was poor and crime rampant. Initially, there were the night time and the daytime council, separating the businesses and the residents; eventually the two councils merged. The merging was the most effective way to bring solutions for the problems for the business and community residence of Midtown South, as so often the problems involved the two either as allies or adversaries.

Census populations in 2000 were 25,807, in 2010 an increase of 2,823 was noted bringing the population to 28,630.[3]

Midtown South Community Council

The Midtown South Community Council, a not-for-profit 501c3 organization, is devoted to building better neighborhoods and stronger relationships within the midtown South of Manhattan.

The community council gathers at the New Yorker Hotel and addresses problems, along with the Midtown South Precinct representatives: usually the inspector, detectives, and members. They have regular visitors from the City Council, District Attorney, Midtown Community Court, Area Community Board, and various civilian outreach groups. They often receive officers in training, officers from cabaret, crime, traffic, drug, and peddler units.
