This is a list of NCAA Men's Division I Football Bowl Subdivision alignment history. Teams in italics are no longer in the Football Bowl Subdivision.[1] As of the 2015 season, no team is transitioning to FBS football. Coastal Carolina has announced that it will begin a transition to FBS football in the 2016 season; it will be counted as an FBS member for scheduling purposes in 2017, with full FBS membership following in 2018.

Idaho has announced it will downgrade to FCS football effective in 2018.
