The National Flute Association (NFA), is the largest organization for flutists in the world, with approximately 5,000 members.[1] It is an association in the United States with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.
It was founded by Mark Thomas in 1972,[2] and elected Bernard Z. Goldberg, principal flutist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, as its president in 1974.[3]
Notable members include Sir James Galway and Ian Anderson.[4]
