National Highway 31 is an important National Highway in India. It provides a gateway to the states of North-East India. The highway is 1,125 km (699 mi) long.[1] It starts in Barhi, Jharkhand at the NH 2 and generally trends to the northeast, passing through Jhumri Tilaiya, Koderma, Nawada, Bihar Sharif, Harnaut, Bakhtiarpur, Barh, Mokameh, Begusarai, Purnea, Dalkhola, Kishanganj, Bagdogra, Siliguri, Malbazar, Mainaguri, Dhupguri, Cooch Behar, Tufanganj, Kokrajhar, and Nalbari before ending at Jalukbari, Guwahati.

National Highway Development Project

A stretch of NH 31 approximately 398 km (247 mi) in length has been selected as a part of the East-West Corridor by the National Highways Development Project.[2]
