NetRom Software BV is a Dutch nearshoring ICT company. Since 1998, NetRom Software develops, improves and supports business critical applications. In Craiova, Romania, NetRom develops software for both Independent Software Vendors and the IT departments of companies worldwide, an increasing number of which are publicly held.

The outsourcing of software development: nearshoring versus offshoring

For many organisations, software nearshoring is the sourcing strategy that best meets their demands. Companies need quality, flexibility, cost reduction and a commitment to core business, but they want to avoid disadvantages of offshoring like differences in language, culture, and working hours. Nearshoring can offer some of the advantages of outsourcing. Since meeting each other doesn't take much time, partnerships can be easily optimised.[1] As NetRom is located in Romania, business hours are equal to Western Europe. Within a few hours you get there by plane.

Activities

The 200+ young Romanian academics which form the centre of excellence of NetRom are system architects, information analysts, software designers, engineers and testers. They are specialised in state-of-the-art technologies, platforms, development languages and methods. The company is certified for ISO 9001, offering both thorough expertise and practical knowledge management across the software development process.[2] NetRom provides solutions[clarification needed] in systems integration, data conversion, software migration, testing, maintenance, implementation and support. [3] The company has over 100 clients in 10 countries in a wide range of industries. The customers can be found in the fields of Transport & Logistics, Business Services, Healthcare, Tourism, Education & Science and Telecommunication to name only a few.

Way of working

During the past 15 years of nearshore software development, NetRom has created its Outsourcing Development Framework (ODF). It consists of various tools and provides clear communication and transparency throughout the entire project. Every project is being handled in tune with the client’s own development process and the need for information and guidance. The projects can be handled on the basis of either fixed-price-fixed-date or time and material: whatever suits the client and the project best.
