Niels Rasch Egede (1710 – 31 August 1782) was a Norwegian-born merchant in Greenland, and a Lutheran missionary.
He was born in Vågan to Hans Egede and Gertrud Rasch, and was a brother of Paul Egede. The family moved to Greenland in 1721. In 1746 he married Elisabeth Eleonore Brun.[1]
From 1731 Egede was running trade business activities in Greenland, first in Godthåb and Christianshåb. He founded the colony of Egedesminde in 1759, and Holsteinborg in 1764. He also participated in the Danish missionary work in Greenland. He died in Copenhagen in 1782.[1][2]
