Norman Stanley Williams

Sir Norman Stanley Williams FRCS FRCP FRCPE FMedSci FRCA (born 15 March 1947) is a British surgeon and former President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.[1] He was knighted in the 2015 New Year Honours.[2]

He was educated at Roundhay School and the University of London.

In October 2015 he was appointed clinical adviser to Jeremy Hunt.[3] During the 2016 junior doctors' strike, he was prevented by a Department of Health staff member from answering a question during a Sky News interview, which was widely perceived to have embarrassed the government at a time of national crisis.[4]
