The Nuttall Ornithological Club is the oldest ornithology organization in United States.[1][2]

History

Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. It was cofounded by William Brewster and his lifelong friend, the sculptor Daniel C. French, in 1873. It was named after the botanist and zoologist Thomas Nuttall[1][3][4] who published the first field guide for North American birds, Manual of the Ornithology of the United States and of Canada (1832).

Notable Members

Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, was a member of the club,[5] one of only a few presidents who published papers in peer reviewed scientific journals.[6] Roger Tory Peterson, author of the Peterson field guides.[1]
