History

In May 2006, British singer John Lawton (ex-Uriah Heep and Lucifer's Friend) and Dutch guitar player Jan Dumée (ex-Focus) joined forces to create a new rock band that would combine their different styles in one strong new project, to be called On The Rocks or, more simply, OTR.

Together with Lawton and Dumée are Brazilian musicians Ney Conceição on bass, Xande Figueiredo on drums, and Marvio Ciribelli on keyboards. Their debut album, called "Mamonama", was released on October 10, 2008.

Conflict with US Band of Same Name

In May 2010, a US led band based out of Worcester, Massachusetts which shares the same name attempted to file suit in court over ownership of the band name.[1] The suit was promptly dismissed on grounds of frivolous nature, with the US band not gaining any monetary settlement. To make matters worse, the US version of On The Rocks was later assaulted in a Worcester, MA nightclub after a botched performance of Bob Seger's hit Night Moves (song).[2]
