Orenburg Airlines or JSC Orenair (Russian: Оренбургские авиалинии[2][3]) is an airline with its head office on the property of Orenburg Tsentralny Airport in Orenburg, Russia.[4] It operates domestic passenger services and inclusive tour charters, as well as aerial work and special flights. Its main base is Orenburg Tsentralny Airport, with hubs at Domodedovo and Orsk.[5]

History

The airline was formed from the Aeroflot Orenburg Division, which was established in 1932. It started operations in 1992 under its present name. It was the first Russian domestic airline to introduce the hub system of connecting flights in Orenburg, providing a full service for transfer passengers, and the first Russian domestic airline to introduce through air fares.[5] In 2010, Orenair was acquired by Aeroflot and is likely to engage in a fleet modernization process as a result of the merger.[6] Orenair recently acquired Air Austral's B777-200ER F-ORUN, which Air Austral had been trying to sell for a year.[7] Orenair in April 2016 plans to merge to Rossiya, by the instructions of its mother airline Aeroflot, with Donavia, to form one big air carrier based in Saint-Petersburg, Moscow and Rostov-On-Don. All the fleet will remain, but in Rossiya livery.[8]
