PAWA Dominicana (Pan Am World Airways Dominicana) is the national and international flag carrier of the Dominican Republic. It was created as a subsidiary airline for Pan American Airways. This airline had scheduled flights between the Dominican Republic, Curaçao, St.Maarten, Aruba and other Caribbean destinations in 2012. Its based at Santo Domingo-Las Americas. The airline re-secured its Air Operator Certificate in May 2015 and resumed scheduled services on August 15, 2015.[1]

PAWA

Pan Am World Airways Dominicana is a Dominican airline based in Santo Domingo-Las Americas. It has some charter flights to other Caribbean islands, but the majority of flights are to, Aruba, Curazao and Saint Maarten. It's a Dominican airline under Part 121 actually operating in the Dominican Republic, since May 2007.

PAWA Dominicana's hub is in Santo Domingo-Las Americas Intl Airport,[2] where the airline operates and maintains its fleet.

On June 4, 2010 the company was purchased by a group of airlines professionals and they appointed Mrs. Mirtha Espada as the company's President.

On February 2012 the airline ceased temporarily scheduled services and maintains operating of charter services. On March 2012 the company appointed Mr. Hector Gomez President with the task of re-orienting the company, and also calling back the former company's founder and owner as part of the organization.

The airline secured its Air Operator Certificate in mid-October 2014 and started services using 4 MD80. Started flights on August 14, 2015.

PAWA Dominicana authority includes international Charter services and schedule services to Curaçao, Aruba, St.Maarten, Havana and Antigua from Santo Domingo HUB with several flights a week on MD80 and DC9. PWD will be adding flights to New York, San Juan, Miami and other Caribbean Islands very soon to make SDQ the HUB of the caribbean. In the future PWD is planning flights from Santiago and Punta Cana to New York and San Juan. PAWA Dominicana's future plans also include possibilities to acquire 1 Boeing 767-300ER aircraft for long-range flights to Madrid and South America.
