Paula Sherriff (born 1975) is a British Labour Party politician. She has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dewsbury since gaining the seat from the Conservatives at the general election in May 2015.[1] Sherriff was previously a councillor in Pontefract on Wakefield District Council.
On 11 January 2016, Sherriff resigned as a ministerial aide to shadow local government and communities secretary Jon Trickett.[2]
0n 21 March 2016 it was officially acknowledged that the ‘Tampon Tax’ would be abolished. Paula Sherriff became the first backbench MP in Parliamentary history to have had an amendment to a Budget resolution successfully adopted. Both the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Labour Party commended her work on the issue.[3]
