Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) is Malaysia's biggest fund management company. The main headquarters is located at Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur near Tabung Haji building. PNB is the parent company for Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) which operates a number of unit trust schemes, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra. The company has foreign offices in Singapore, London and Tokyo.

History

The company was founded on 17 March 1978 based on idea from Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, as a pivotal instrument of the Government New Economic Policy to promote share ownership among the Bumiputera (Natives; lit: Son of the Soil), and to develop opportunities for deserving Bumiputera professionals to participate in the creation and management of wealth.

Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB)

Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) is a parent company for PNB which operates a number of unit trust schemes, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra.

Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN)

Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN) is the first and largest unit trust schemes. It was launched on 20 April 1981 by the third Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Hussein Onn. The idea of establishing this trust scheme is by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB)

Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) is the second and second largest unit trust schemes after ASN. It was launched on 2 January 1990 by the fourth Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad. Unit trusts in Malaysia are like mutual funds in the United States. ASB is only open to Bumiputeras, which roughly means the native peoples of Malaysia and therefore excludes historical immigrant groups such as Chinese and Indians.

ASB

Launched in 2 January 1990. ASB has an input limit of RM 200,000, meaning that one can only invest new money up to that point. There is, however, no upper limit on the value of an account, so capital gains which are retained in the account are allowed to cause it to exceed RM 200,000. Capital gains in ASB accounts are not subject to taxes. Dividends are paid each year and put back into the account so that compounding is achieved.

ASB 2

This second ASB unit trusts was launched on 2 April 2014 by the by sixth Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak. This fund is open to Bumiputera Malaysian only with the minimum investment of 10 units (Passbook) & 1000 units (Certificate). The maximum investment limit for the ASB2 is 200,000 units (Adult) & 50,000units (below 18year). ASB unit holders who have reached their maximum investment of 200,000 units can also invest in ASB2, which has a fixed price of RM1 per unit. The Initial fund size is 10 Billion units & the financial year end is 31 March.

Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW 2020)

Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 (ASW 2020) is the third unit trust schemes. It was launched on 28 August 1996 by the fourth Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad. There's quota of 51% for Bumiputeras Malaysian & 49% for Non-Bumiputera Malaysian.

Amanah Saham Didik (ASD)

Amanah Saham Didik (ASD) is the fourth unit trust schemes was launched on 20 April 2001. This Fund is Open to Bumiputera Malaysian Only with the minimum investment of 100 units.

Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM)

Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) was launched on 20 April 2000 with a fund size of two billion units which was fully subscribed in 21 days. This fund is Open to All Malaysian with no racial quota.

Amanah Saham Gemilang (ASG)

Amanah Saham Gemilang (ASG) was launched in 2003.

Amanah Saham 1Malaysia (AS1M)

Amanah Saham 1Malaysia was launched on 31 July 2009 by sixth Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak with a fund size of 10 Billion. AS1M is open to all Malaysian citizen with a quota of 50% for Bumiputera, 30% Chinese, 15% Indian and 5% others. AS1M has no upper limit on the value of an account, so capital gains which are retained in the account are allowed. Capital gains in AS1M accounts are not subject to taxes until 2019. Dividends are paid each year and put back into the account so that compounding is achieved.

Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia (MSAM)

The Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia (MSAM) or Malaysian Unit Trust Week is an annual event organised by PNB, and usually held every April. The first event was held in 2000. The 16th edition, held at Sibu, Sarawak from 19th to 27th of April 2015 recorded the highest number of visitors, which is 319,000 visitors, surpassing the current record of 280,000 visitors, during the 13th edition in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in 2012.
