Peter Bartram (4 May 1961 in Aarhus) is a Danish general.[1]

Bartram is the Danish Chief of Defence and was appointed on 20 March 2012.[2] He succeeded Lieutenant General Bjørn Ingemann Bisserup.

As the Danish Chief of Defence, general Peter Bartram is the military advisor to the Minister of Defence. He is responsible for the organisation, training and operations of the Defence.

The Chief of Defence is responsible for approximately 93 percent of the Defence budget. He gives certain directives to the Defence Intelligence Service, the Home Guard and the Defence Construction Service, and will assume command over the Home Guard in times of tension and war.

Defence Command Denmark subordinated authorities are the operational commands, materiel command, Defence Health Service and the Defence Academy, and some minor joint service institutions.
