Peter Laros Shelton (March 26, 1945 - August 26, 2012) was an architect and interior designer based in New York, New York. He was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to Talbot Shelton and Margaret Laros Shelton.[1]

Personal life

Shelton graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968 and received a master’s in architecture from Pratt Institute in 1975.

Shelton was married at 50 to Laura Bennett, a contestant on Season 3 of Bravo TV's Project Runway. Together they have five sons: Peik, Truman, Pierson, Larson, Finn, and a daughter from Bennett’s first marriage.[1]

Career

Shelton worked in the offices of Edward Durrell Stone & Associates and Emery Roth & Sons before founding Shelton, Mindel & Associates with Lee F. Mindel in 1978.

Over the years, Shelton, Mindel won 25 awards from the American Institute of Architects. and three design awards from the Society of American Registered Architects. Peter Shelton was inducted to the International Interior Design Association Hall of Fame in 1996. The firm was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 1996. In 2011, it won the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Interior Design.[1]

Death

Shelton died at his home in Manhattan on August 26, 2012 from cancer at age 67.[1]
