  • 12 March 2016, ahead of the upcoming film version of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, JK Rowling has published a series of 4 vignettes on Pottermore, giving some background on the magicking world of 1920s America.[1]
  • 26 February 2016, Pottermore unveil the full cast of "Cursed Child" and announce that final rehearsals have begun.[2]
  • 14 January 2016, Alan Rickman, known to Harry Potter fans for playing Severus Snape in the films, has died of cancer at the age of 69; an ad-hoc memorial has been created underneath the "Platform 9¾" sign at London's King's Cross Station.

  • 26 June 2015, on the eighteenth anniversary of the first print appearance of Harry Potter, J.K Rowling announces that the Harry Potter stage play The Cursed Child will premiere in the summer of 2016, at London's Palace Theatre.
