Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark (Greek: Θεοδώρα, born 9 June 1983 in London), also known under her stage name Theodora Greece, is an actress. She is the younger daughter and fourth of the five children of former King Constantine II of Greece and Anne-Marie of Denmark.[1][2]

Biography

Theodora was born at St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, in London on 9 June 1983.[3]

Theodora's godparents are Queen Margrethe II of Denmark (maternal aunt), Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom (her mother's third cousin), former King Michael I of Romania (her father's first cousin) and former Crown Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia (second cousin).[citation needed]

Education

Theodora attended the all-girls boarding institution, Woldingham School, situated in Surrey, England, between 1994 and 2001. After a gap year spent at St Philip's College in Alice Springs, Australia, Theodora attended Brown University under the name Theodora Greece,[4] where she received her Bachelor of Arts on 28 May 2006[5] in Theatre Arts, having also attended Northeastern University in Boston. Subsequently she undertook graduate studies at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.[1]

In April 2010, Theodora moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, appearing in supporting roles under the name Theodora Greece. She made her television debut as secretary Alison Montgomery in the long-running soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, on December 5, 2011.[6]

Ancestry

Her paternal grandparents were King Paul of Greece and Frederika of Hanover.[2] Her maternal grandparents are Frederick IX of Denmark and Ingrid of Sweden.[9] As an agnatic descendant of Christian IX of Denmark Theodora is a Danish princess, and because King Christian's younger son, Prince William of Denmark, was elected "George I, King of the Hellenes" in 1863, her father (George's great-grandson) inherited the throne of Greece in 1964.[3][10]

She is closely related to seven current or former living sovereigns of Europe: daughter of Constantine II of Greece, maternal niece of Margrethe II of Denmark, maternal first cousin of Felipe VI of Spain, matrilineal first cousin once removed of Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, second cousin once removed of Harald V of Norway, second cousin and third cousin once removed of Philip of the Belgians and thus first cousin once removed and third cousin of Albert II of the Belgians.

As a great-great-granddaughter of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught (son of Queen Victoria), Princess Theodora is also in the line of succession to the British throne pursuant to the Act of Settlement 1701.[1][11]
