In Computer Security, a pseudoserver is a server similar in function to a honeypot except that a honeypot has the function to attract an attacker through a deliberate vulnerability in order to elicit unauthorised access attempts from them so that monitoring may take place. This leaves honeypots open to the problem of entrapment, if used by a law enforcement agency. The pseudoserver concentrates on the unauthorised access portion of honeypot functionality and so is not prone to the problem of entrapment. Pseudoservers are of particular use when cross-referencing IDS logs.

A pseudo server can also be a sub-server of a server daemon.
