Public Safety Committee (Georgia Senate)

The Senate Public Safety Committee is an eight member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, and five members. The Committee operates under a Senate mandate to regulate all aspects involving the security and well-being of Georgia's citizens and to employ mitigating efforts to protect them from physical violence and other dangerous perils.[1]

Scope and jurisdiction

The Senate Public Safety Committee has jurisdiction over all legislation concerning the maintenance of the security and general well-being of Georgia's citizens from all aspects of physical violence or danger. The committee also handles the legislation related to the registration of vehicles, licensing of drivers, and safe operating conditions on all of Georgia's roads.[1]
