Qizilqum Zarafshon (Uzbek: Қизилқум Зарафшон футбол клуби or Qizilqum Zarafshon futbol klubi; English: FC Qizilqum) is a Uzbekistani football club based in Zarafshan. They play in Uzbek League, the top division in Uzbekistani football. The club named after the river that flows near, the Zeravshan River. Qizylqum in Uzbek means Red Sands, which also is the name for the local desert.
History

Qizilqum was founded in 1967 under name Progress. Club changed its name several times to Qizilqum and then to Progress. Since 1997 it plays as Qizilqum. The club made its debut in Uzbek League in 2000. In its first season club finished at 11th position. One year later, in 2001 season, club ranked at 6th place in final League table. The 2002 season club finished at 3rd position after runner-up Neftchi Farg'ona which is highest club performance in Uzbek League ever. Since 2000 club consequently plays in top league of Uzbek football.

Stadium
Club's home ground is Progress Stadium with 5,000 capacity located in Zarafshan. In August 2013 the Progress Stadium was closed for the reconstruction. From August 2013 to May 2014 club played its home matches in 10,000-seater Sogdiana Stadium in Navoi. Sogdiana Stadium is home ground of Navoi located club, FC Yuzhanin Navoi. In May 2014 club moved to another new build stadium located in Navoi, Yoshlar Stadium to play its home matches.[1]
Yoshlar Stadium with belonging sporting complex was build for Umid nihollari 2012, the republican sports games among school students. The construction work of 12,500-all seater stadium and sporting complex started in April 2011 and finished in 2012. The sporting complex includes two indoor courts for volleyball, handball, basketball and other facilities. The festive opening of new Yoshlar Stadium was held in May 2012 with opening of Umid nihollari 2012 games. In November 2012 AFC awarded the new stadium A category class. The first official football match was played on 3 May 2014 with League match Qizilqum - Dinamo Samarkand.[2]
