Glen Dimplex is an Irish-based consumer electrical goods firm. It is the world's largest electrical heating business and holds significant market positions in the domestic appliance industry worldwide.[1] With an annual turnover of €1.5 Billion, the Group employs 8,500 people.[2]

The company is privately held, and bases most of its manufacturing and development in Ireland and the United Kingdom. However, the company also has branches in North America, Germany, Holland, Japan, Poland, Belgium, France, China (Shenyang), Australia and Scandinavia.[3][4] n Glen Dimplex is wholly owned by Martin Naughton after buying out other shareholders in 2003.

History

Founded in 1973 in Northern Ireland as an electric heater manufacturer, the company has expanded by numerous acquisitions.

Morphy Richards and Burco Dean Appliances were acquired by the Glen Dimplex Group in 1985 and were based in Mexborough near Doncaster, England. Belling was acquired in 1992,[5] Roberts Radio in 1994,[6] Goblin Vacuum Cleaners 1998,[7] LEC Refrigeration in 2005,[8] Robinson Willey in 2010,[9] and Valor in 2011.[10]

Dimplex was the shirt sponsor of Southampton Football Club from 1993 until 1995.[11]
