Revolution3D is a 3D graphics engine developed by VirtualART. It is free for non-commercial and commercial use and uses DirectX 9.0.[1] The project was started in 1998 by Simon Theophil and competed with the engine Truevision3D.[2] Revolution3D can be used with C++, C#, Visual Basic, Java and Python.
In 2001 Microsoft developed a game called Donkey .NET using Revolution3D. This game was a programming example for the new .NET platform and Visual Basic .NET programming language.[3][4]
