Rodney Bobick (September 23, 1951 – June 5, 1977), alias The Bowlus Bear, was a heavyweight professional boxer from Minnesota.

Personal life

The younger brother of heavyweight contender Duane Bobick, Rodney hailed from tiny Bowlus, Minnesota. Rodney never achieved the success or recognition that Duane did, and he died in a single-car crash when he was only 25 years old.

Professional career

Rodney Bobick made his professional debut in March 1972, knocking out Mike Shannon in two rounds. Bobick won his first ten professional fights and 32 of his first 35 fights. By the mid-'70s Bobick found himself fighting against such notable competition as Scott LeDoux, Larry Holmes, and Mike Schutte. At the time of his death in June 1977 Bobick had compiled a professional record of 37 wins (18 by knockout) and 7 losses.[1] He had fought all over the US and in the Philippines, Germany, and South Africa.
