Rosemont (Besançon)

Rosemont is a district of Besançon located to the west of the city

History

Nestled at the foot of Mont Rognon, the area was covered with vines before being reforested by the city from 1828 to 1847. It was renamed Mount Rose then took its final name of Rosemont. History will record that the district was called and through Eudes de Rougemont, Archbishop of Besançon, which built a house-high, without right kidney on the Mount. In July 1291, relations between the prelate and Bisontine was tightened and the building was attacked and demolished by the middle of the seven districts of the city. Over the decades, various shops and vines have disappeared to make way for the massive construction of housing. At the close of the business of curing the "Rosemont" (with up to 350 employees) in 1985, the district is now entirely residential. The Rosemont is often associated with its "big brother", Saint-Ferjeux.
