Ruth Wignall (Dodsworth) is a British journalist and broadcaster for ITV Cymru Wales and Nation Radio.[2]

Career

Wignall is best known as a weather presenter but began her career in radio, working as a researcher for BBC Radio Wales[3] before training as a news reporter and presenter.[4] She joined HTV Wales (now ITV Cymru Wales) in July 1995.

She has also presented a wide range of Welsh feature programmes for ITV, including The Ferret, Grassroots, coverage of the Royal Welsh Show and the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Wales This Week, A Little Piece of Paradise, The Night Before the Morning After and Coast and Country.[4][2]

In September 2015, Wignall joined Nation Radio as co-presenter of the station's breakfast show, The Big Welsh Wake Up, alongside Niall Foster.

Education

After graduating with a degree in communications, Wignall studied post-graduate journalism at Cardiff University through an ITV sponsored course.[4]

Charity work

Wignall has hosted charity fashion shows for charities including the breast care centre at Llanelli Hospital[5] and the George Thomas Hospice.[6]

Private life

Wignall lives in Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, has two children Grace and Jack [2] and is married to Swansea businessman and ex nightclub owner Jonathan Wignall.[7]
