Rutherford B. Hayes High School is a public high school in Delaware, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Delaware City School District. The school's mascot is the Pacer, a tribute to the Little Brown Jug, which takes place in Delaware. The school is named after President Rutherford B. Hayes, who was born in Delaware in 1822.

Clubs and Activities
School spirit is a large focus for the student body who participates in the student section at various sporting events, including football and basketball, are known as the "Euclid Entourage", in reference to the street where the school is located. The student section attends all of the sporting events at Hayes and participates in "white-outs", and many other costumed theme nights. The Euclid Entourage is regarded in central Ohio as a spirited student section.
The school has many extracurricular and academically-oriented clubs. Some of the active extracurricular clubs at Hayes include the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, and the Red Cross Club, among others. The numerous language clubs include French, Spanish, German, and Russian. The school's chapter of National Honor Society includes over 80 members. The Chess Club competes in the Columbus Area Chess League, placing third in 2005. The Mock Trial Group is also active across central Ohio. Hayes's In The Know trivia quiz team competes in the Quad-County league with schools from Delaware, Franklin, Marion, and Union counties and in WOSU's "In The Know" television show. In 2010, Hayes placed second in the WOSU In The Know competition.
The Thespians and Theatre Department are active as well, putting on a winter play and spring musical each year. Hayes is known for its impressive and unique productions. In the last few years, Hayes has put on Guys and Dolls and Charlotte's Web (2010), and Fiddler on the Roof and Little Women (2009). In 2011 they produced Brighton Beach Memoirs and The Phantom of the Opera, while they produced Radium Girls and Legally Blonde: The Musical in 2012. The 2013 season includes The Farnsworth Invention and Hello, Dolly!. The 2014 season is planned to include Macbeth, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Anything Goes, and A Piece of My Heart.
Hayes is the home school for one of the original 40 AFJROTC detachments. OH-12, commonly known as the "Phantoms," consists of students from all over Delaware county, and is the second oldest in the state, behind the OH-11 detachment at Westland HS. The Phantoms regularly send a group to represent Delaware to the Ohio Valley Leadership School at Wright Patterson Air Force Base which is held every summer. OH-12 is also home to one of the more competitive precision drill teams in the region, taking trophies at competitions across the state. They finished the 2010-2011 season with a total of 26 trophies. OH-12 cadets commonly perform flag raising ceremonies at home football games, and present the colors at home basketball games
Music Program
Hayes has an extremely active and accomplished music department. The Hayes orchestra performed at Carnegie Hall in March 2010 and has received superior ratings at State competitions for many consecutive years. The Hayes marching band qualified for State in the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) competition in 2010 and performed at the Outback Bowl in December 2011. The marching band also went on to qualify for State Competition at all three contests in 2012. Receiving a superior rating of I at qualifying contests and the State Finals. And has qualified for OMEA State Competition every year since 2012.
The Color Guard also went undefeated in their seasons in 2012 as well.
The Concert band qualified for the Ohio Music Education Association State competition after receiving straight superior ratings at district competition in 2011. Both the marching and concert band received an Excellent rating at the Ohio Music Education Association State competition in 2010-2011.
The Hayes Symphonic Choir performed in New York City with Eric Whitacre in April 2011 and received many superior ratings at the District and State levels along with Women's Chorale.
Hayes has an active Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter who also implements a plastic recycling project. Hayes has many music students that are a member of honors groups like, the Ohio Capital Conference Honor Choir, East Central Regional Orchestra, Muskingum University Youthfest, OMEA District 10 Honors Band, Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Cadet Orchestra, Ohio University Honor Choir and Orchestra, Youth Philharmonic of Central Ohio, Ohio State Orchestra, Central Ohio Symphony Young Strings, and the Ohio Wesleyan University President's High School Music Festival.
Athletics
Delaware Hayes is a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (Division 1 for most sports) and part of the Ohio Capital Conference's Capital Division.

Sports Rivalries
Some of the Pacers' athletic rivals include the Buckeye Valley Barons, also based out of Delaware County, and the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets of Knox County.
