Scientific Reports is an online open access scientific mega journal published by the Nature Publishing Group, covering all areas of the natural sciences.

Abstracting and indexing

Scientific Reports is abstracted and indexed in PubMed/MEDLINE and the Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal's impact factor has increased from 2.927 in 2012 to 5.578 in 2014.[1]

Peer review

Scientific Reports has been described as a mega journal, conceptually similar to PLoS ONE, based on article processing charges and a peer review model emphasizing scientific quality, rather than perceived impact.[2] In 2015, an editor resigned from Scientific Reports [3] when the journal introduced a trial of a fast-track peer-review service for biology manuscripts in exchange for an additional fee.
