Scott Wright (born 2 October 1974 in Ashton-under-Lyne) is a British actor and singer. Wright was nominated for a national TV award as most popular newcomer for his role as Sam Kingston in Coronation Street and has been awarded a Rear Of The Year title.[1]

Career

Wright had a two-year stay in ITV's Coronation Street, playing Sam Kingston from 2000 to 2002.[2] Wright's other acting credits on television include ITV's Crossroads and BBC One's Doctors.[3] Added to this he played the title role in Tristan in the Merlin International films production. Wright has also appeared in ITV's Emmerdale and Channel 4's Shameless.[4]

He has taken part in reality shows including Trust Me - I'm A Holiday Rep where he spent two weeks in Cyprus for Granada Television pretending to be a holiday rep. Wright took part in the celebrity special in the fourth season of Fort Boyard in 2001. He hosted the This Morning Puzzle Book on ITV Play. Wright impersonated George Michael on Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes and also hosted a weekly radio show on 106.5 Central Radio in Preston between September 2008 and September 2009.

Wright founded Screen Academy which provides acting classes for television, film and stage in the North of England.[5]

In 2015 Wright appeared in several plays and ITV 1's Midwinter Of The Spirit playing Anna Maxwell Martins' husband Sean Watkins the drama also starring David Threlfall.
