History
Seaway formed in 2011 in Oakville, Ontario, consisting of Ryan Locke on vocals, Patrick Carleton on guitar and vocals, Andrew Eichinger on guitar, Adam Shoji on bass, and Ken Taylor on drums.[1] All of the members had been friends since school and have been in many bands together previous.[2] Seaway was originally a side-project of hardcore band[2] The Fellowship, which featured Locke, Eichinger and Taylor.[3] Seaway is Locke's first band where he was the vocalist as he played drums prior to Seaway.[2] The band went on tour, supporting Major League in February and March 2014.[4] The band went on a co-headlining Summer 2014 tour with Stickup Kid, with support from Driver Friendly, from early July to late August.[5] The band went on The Intercontinental Championships Tour in the UK, supporting Neck Deep in January and February 2015.[6] The band supported As It Is and This Wild Life on their tour of the UK in May.[7] On September 23, "Airhead" was made available for streaming.[8] Colour Blind was released on October 23[8] through Pure Noise.[9] Three days later, a music video for "Best Mistake" was released.[9]
Style
Matt Collar of AllMusic described the band as making "exuberant punk-pop and emo-rock" music.[1] Rock Sound described the band's sound as "Fast and classically melodic pop-punk" combined with a "distinct and unashamed pop sensibility."[10]
Side projects
Locke, Taylor and Eichinger play in hardcore punk band Rage Brigade. They released the F.I.G.H.T.M.U.S.I.C. EP[11] and singles "Slipping Away" & "Hard Love" in 2011.
Accolades
Colour Blind was included at number 32 on Rock Sound's top 50 releases of 2015 list.[12]
