Severus II bar Masqeh was the Patriarch of Antioch, and head of the Syriac Orthodox Church from 667 until his death in 681.

Biography

Severus studied at the Monastery of Euspholis and in 667 he was elected and consecrated as patriarch. However, his strict devotion to ascetism created a rift between him and other bishops within the church.[1] In 669, Severus consecrated Bar Easo as Maphrian of the East.
