Solutions

ShoreTel develops and supports a telecommunications solution which is a distributed architecture with a single image for administration. This is delivered the deployment of dedicated voice appliances supported by an application server. While traditional time-division multiplexing (TDM) systems or competitor IP telephony solutions require full 2N redundancy to maintain service continuity in the event of failure, ShoreTel accomplishes N+1 redundancy by load balancing. [1] The physical appliances use embedded flash memory and do not have any spinning media or hard drive. As of version 14.2, virtual appliances are supported and can be used as temporary failover devices to maintain service continuity. [2]

System administration is performed within ShoreTel Director, a web based application for managing and configuring users, devices and applications across the entire enterprise. User applications are available through ShoreTel Communicator for desktop users which provides IP telephony, conferencing, instant messaging, softphone and other services. ShoreTel Mobility is a client and server application which integrates with ShoreTel's and other vendor's IP PBXs to provide IP telephony and UC services over Wi-Fi and PSTN cellular networks.
