Earlier Life
Miller attended Nottingham High School between 1982 and 1989. After studying economics he moved into banking, working on Wall Street. In his free time he enjoys mountaineering, which was useful when filming his latest film.
Directing
Since leaving the London Film School in 2003, Simon Miller has written and directed two short films. The first, Dead Man Falls premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2004. The second, Foighidinn - The Crimson Snowdrop in Scottish Gaelic, premiered at the Celtic Film and Television Festival in 2005 and went on to win the Bermuda International Film Festival and to show at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, the Hamptons International Film Festival, the Hawaii International Film Festival, the Rhode Island International Film Festival and the European Minority Film Festival.
Foighidinn - The Crimson Snowdrop was the inspiration for the Scottish Gaelic feature film, Seachd: The Inaccessible Pinnacle, his feature debut, which was released in 2007.
Writing
Simon Miller writes with his wife, Joanne Cockwell and has collaborated with several Scottish Gaelic writers including: Aonghas Macneacail, Ian Finlay Macleod and Angus Peter Campbell.
