Hideki Ishima playing a sitarla.

The sitarla is an instrument invented by Hideki Ishima[1] and Kenichi Hagiwara which combines aspects of the sitar with the solid body electric guitar.[2][3] It is a hollow-bodied instrument, and currently only two exist in the world.[4] Ishima now plays the instrument exclusively,[5] and it has replaced his guitar playing in Flower Travellin' Band.[6] It is featured on their 2008 album We Are Here.[7]
