"Sorry" is a song recorded by American singer Beyoncé for her sixth studio album, Lemonade (2016). The song was written and produced by Wynter Gordon, Sean "Melo-X" Rhoden and Beyoncé. It was sent to radio as the album's second single on May 3, 2016. The song's lyrics refer to a possible betrayal of the singer's companion with a woman who is referred to as "Becky".

The song's music video is part of a one-hour film with the same title as its parent album, Lemonade (Beyoncé album) originally aired on HBO. The video features multiple cameos including celebrities Serena Williams, Ibeyi, Amandla Stenberg, Quvenzhané Wallis, and Zendaya.

Commercial performance

After the release of Lemonade, "Sorry" debuted on Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 11, becoming Beyoncé's second best debut on the chart above her 2006 single "Ring the Alarm" and 2013 single "Drunk in Love". It was only surpassed by "Formation", which entered the chart at number 10 in the same week.[2] In its second week, the song held its peak position, being the only track of the album to do so.[3] "Sorry" also entered on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart at number 7, becoming Beyoncé's twenty-fifth top 10 single on the chart and climbed up to number 4 the following week. According to Tidal, "Sorry" was streamed 14.2 million times in 5 days in the US.[2]

Live performances

"Sorry" is part of the set list of the The Formation World Tour with the first performance taking place in Miami at the Marlins Park on April 27, 2016.[4]
