Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. A Spanish Venezuelan is a Venezuelan citizen of Spanish origin or descent. There are many Venezuelans of Spanish origin, especially from the Canary Islands (known as Isleños). A majority of Venezuelans have some Spanish ancestry.
Migration history
Spanish immigration to Venezuela begins with the Spanish colonization of the Americas, and continued during Colonial Venezuela and, after independence in 1830, during the nineteenth century. Further immigration took place in the centuries since, particularly following World War II, especially during the Spanish Civil War, when thousands of Spaniards fled from Spain to Venezuela. Over the course of General Francisco Franco's dictatorship many thousands more fled in fear of the regime.
In addition, as of 2010, there are around 200,000 Venezuelans residing in Spain.[1]
