SportsBlog is a user-generated sports content website. It features blogs from fans as well as current and former professional athletes from the NFL, NBA and WNBA. It is the official blogging platform of the NBA, WNBA and National Basketball Retired Players Associations. It also has a partnership with the NFL.

History
SportsBlog was launched in 2011 by Roy Dano, Peter Azuolas and Kevin April.[1] That year, SportsBlog developed its own open blogging platform,[3] including a revenue-sharing model for the site's most-read bloggers.[4] In 2013, the site expanded its writer base to include professional athletes, who were offered complete creative freedom. For athletes who prefer not to write their own blog posts, a SportsBlog employee is available to interview them. After WNBA players began participating, current and former NBA and NFL players also came on board.[1][3]
As of October 2014, SportsBlog hosts 20,000 different blogs, averages approximately 8 million unique visitors per month, and, according to comScore, is the 21st-largest sports media site online.[1][3]
Notable bloggers
As of 2013, SportsBlog has more current and former professional athlete bloggers than any other site.[5] Professional athlete bloggers include: current and former NFL players Jeff Nixon, Brandon Williams, Justin Forsett, Barry Sanders, Jerome Bettis, Eddie George, Patrick Peterson and Stevie Johnson; current and former NBA players Charlie Villanueva, Dale Ellis, Tim Hardaway, Sam Perkins, Danny Schayes and Spencer Haywood; and more than 40 WNBA bloggers, including Layshia Clarendon and Tanisha Wright.[1][4][6]
US Army soldier Julius Porter was profiled by Today in 2014 for using SportsBlog to blog about sports from his station overseas during his off time.[7]

Partnerships
In November 2012, SportsBlog announced a deal with NFL players to blog on the site.[6][8]
As of July 2013, SportsBlog is the exclusive blogging destination for WNBA players.[9] That summer, SportsBlog partnered with the WNBA to provide players with a mobile app allowing them to communicate privately with the union about developments in negotiations for a new collective-bargaining agreement. The app also contained a feature enabling players to blog on SportsBlog.com.[10]
In November 2013, SportsBlog and the National Basketball Retired Players Association agreed to partner, with retired players blogging beginning in 2014.[5] The site also signed content deals with several former NBA players to create a Legends Corner section.[4]
