Stage Left Children's Theater is a non-profit children's theater for students from kindergarten to the twelfth grade devoted to producing quality theater for, by, and with children.[1]

Stage Left Children's Theater, Inc. (SLCT) was founded by the artistic director Ayn Lauren and executive director/producer Francesca H. Lopez in 1999.[2] SLCT uses education, collaboration and performance techniques as a catalyst for developing social and professional skills, responsibility, character, and integrity. Since 1999, Stage Left Children's Theater's programs have enriched the lives of hundred of students, parents, siblings, and extended family. Francesca oversees the daily operations of the organization while highly trained instructors, independently contracted, teach classes and workshops throughout the week. Volunteers are the core of SLCT and help implement several of the programs. These people include neighborhood residents, parents and family members, industry professionals, and other field experts who assist in every aspect of the organization from transportation to set construction, book-keeping to playing in the orchestra of a production.[2] Stage Left is currently situated in their studio in Tappan, New York where most of the classes and rehearsals take place during the year.

Main Stage Productions

Every spring, Stage Left puts on one main stage musical for the public. For main stage, every child enrolled in a Stage Left class has the ability to audition. In recent years, the casts of the main stage production has grown and lead to the creation of two cast for each main stage production. Each cast is composed of relatively the same number of children. Cast size varies from year to year depending on the play and the number of children who audition. Main stage productions are performed at the Ritterhausen Theater in Nyack, New York. Each year, Stage Left will perform four school performances for surrounding schools. The inaugural main stage production was Mary Poppins in 2000.
