Steven Newsome (born 1952) is an American arts and museum administrator.[1] Newsome grew up in Norfolk, Virginia.[1] He attended Trinity College, Hartford and Emory University.[1] He is the former Chief of the Office of Cultural and Educational Services in the Division of History and Cultural Program at the Department of Housing and Community Development, in Annapolis, Maryland.[1][2] He was Executive Director of the Maryland Commission on Afro-American History and Culture[2] and director of the Banneker-Douglass Museum.[1] In 1990[1] he became the director of the Anacostia Museum,[2] before retiring in 2004.[3] Newsome is the founding director of the Prince George's African American Museum & Cultural Center.[4]
