Sugata Marjit is the Project Director[1] of Centre for Training & Research in Public Finance and Policy (A Ministry of Finance, Government of India funded initiative) and Reserve Bank of India Professor of Industrial Economics at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta.[2][3] He is a PhD at the University of Rochester and currently the Editor of South Asian Journal of Macroeconomics and Public Finance.[4] He used to be the Director[5] of Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta from March 2007 to March 2012. On 15 July, 2015 he took the charge as an interim Vice-Chancellor[6] of the prestigious University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India.
