Sven Papcke
Sven Gustav Papcke (born November 18, 1939) is a German sociologist. He was most recently a professor at the Institute of Sociology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. Since his retirement in 2005, he lives in Berlin. His work focuses on the history of social ideas, political sociology, the European movement, and the history of the discipline of sociology.

Biography
Sven Papcke was born in Hamburg. After graduating from the Christianeum, he studied history and sociology in Hamburg and London. From 1968, he was a research assistant at the Ruhr University in Bochum at the chair of Urs Jaeggi, assistant professor at the FU Berlin (1973) and since 1974 professor of sociology at the University of Münster, where he continues to work even after his retirement.
From 2000 to 2005 he was chairman of the Münster district association of the non-party Europa-Union Deutschland. He is the author of numerous monographs, articles, reviews and radio contributions as well as the editor of various anthologies and reference works and scientific series.
