Svetloyarsky District (Russian: Светлоя́рский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the thirty-three in Volgograd Oblast, Russia.[1] As a municipal division, it is incorporated as Svetloyarsky Municipal District.[4] It is located in the southeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 3,390 square kilometers (1,310 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Svetly Yar.[2] Population: 38,355 (2010 Census);[5] 39,384 (2002 Census);[8] 35,483 (1989 Census).[9] The population of Svetly Yar accounts for 32.7% of the district's total population.[5]
