Not in screenplay format

Reading screenplays takes getting used to. For casual readers I'm attempting an improved online-modified screenplay presentation. Feel free to let me know what you think in the SaidIt.net/s/GlossedOver discussion forum.

Repeated from "Story summaries":

This project has 6 distinct parts (Acts 1-3, each with a part A and B) and could easily be expanded into two or three movies or even a mini-series, based simply on this content. While some interesting parts could be expanded much further, or even new parts could be developed, the main objective here is a strong screenplay for a feature film - so unfortunately there is an abundance of non-story-critical world-building that I must cast aside. Thereafter expansions and variations may be considered.

Repeated from "Project conception":

Stanley Kubrick released his 2001: A Space Odyssey 33 years in advance. I'm only aiming for 25-30 years from now (unspecifically around 2045 to 2050), and while that time keeps creeping closer, I'll be happy when this is finally completed, luckier still if it is ever developed into a feature or series.

Future historical context

I feel I need to impart that this story intentionally starts out bland. This is not an action movie that needs to grab you right away - yet intensity will build. I'm starting slow to remind people that the future will not be too different. Most buildings will remain the same. Trees are still trees. The river is still a river, perhaps cleaner, perhaps more polluted. Some things will get more extreme. My neighbourhood will likely look almost identical in 30 years because 30 years ago it was mostly the same, aside from a few newer buildings and the fully occupied storefronts, now vacant of businesses. 30 years ago the few mobile devices around were Walkmans or newer Discmans and simple mobile telephones were bricks. Cable television was finally a thing with less than a hundred channels dominated by the big four - ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox. Even the post-modern homes on Riverside Drive had already been there for a decade. The more things change the more they stay the same - until they don't.

Abstract opening

I came up with an artsy abstract bookend-coda opening device that will make sense mid-way and at the end. While initially pleased with myself, I now wonder if it's actually appropriate for this more grounded story. Sometimes I like it as a soft introduction and soft resolution. I hope readers will let me know if it's should stay or go - after they've finished the story to the end and can reflect on the entirety.

Skip abstract opening

For what it's worth, it won't all be as nearly as awkward to read as the opening few scenes. You may just wish to skip to Act 1A, Scene 0040.
