To set this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:

Please note that the following swimmer also appears on the official USA Swimming roster for the 1964 Summer Olympics: Kathleen Seidel. This swimmer was not a medalist or finalist in any event, and Sports-Reference.com and databaseOlympics.com do not list her as competing in the preliminary heats, so I have removed her from the navbox. I can only surmise that she was an alternate who did not compete at the Olympics. If anyone else can shed light on her status, please do.
