Plot

The plumber Mendel Marantz, who is a passionate inventor, without much luck and a family not understanding him, finally strikes rich as a dishwashing machine he invented finds through the investor Gassenheim his way to the world. But Mendels troubles are not over ... his family doesn't share the same dreams he has, to become the landlord of the house they are living in East Side. They prefer to move to Park Avenue and adapt to how most rich people live in New York. Mendel's ideas he had in time are not forgotten. In his loneliness, the men whom he once told how he would have transformed the building, work on renovating it with every detail he thought of himself. Neighbours and visitor come to see the house and his beautiful penthouse. Only his wife and his children are in Park Avenue ... When Gassenheim doesn't pay any more the royalties to Mrs. Marantz, she, Lillian and Shtrudel come home, to find out that Mendel is near to loose everything.
