The Independents – Lugner's List (German: Die Unabhängigen – Liste Lugner, DU) were a minor political party in Austria, founded by businessman Richard Lugner to contest the 1998 presidential election, where he got 9.9% of the vote (mostly because the incumbent Thomas Klestil was supported by SPÖ, ÖVP and FPÖ). In the 1999 parliamentary election, the Independents got only 1.02%; Lugner subsequently abandoned his brief foray into Austrian politics.
